Portage Information:

  • Travel to Colonial Creek Campground on Hwy 20, park in a designated area, and unload vessels.

  • Launch, and paddle 5 miles to the Portage dock. You will find a phone in a box with a number to call and reach the resort office.

  • We will gather your information and send a flatbed truck to pick you up.

  • Please, do not bring your vessel up to the road before the truck arrives. You may use the kayak dock or up to 6 feet of the concrete ferry dock next to the kayak dock. Do not block any walkways or the road as the truck needs to back down to the parking block and the ferry dock is for all National Park visitors.

  • This is a first come, first serve service and ferry traffic will be given priority. You can anticipate a 15 to 60-minute wait. No reservation is required.

  • You may portage your own vessel by wheel or manpower free of charge. This is a 2 1/2 mile trek and there is a fair amount of elevation to traverse. It is a gravel road with many switchbacks. We kindly ask you to be aware that trucks travel this road and need the right-of-way.

  • This service is $50 for 1 vessel & $40 each for 2 or more vessels in the same load, the discount for multiple vessels will be applied across parties. We now accept cash or cards with the driver.

  • Portage service runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily.  2025 Season dates June 5th - Oct 31st

Steps to Follow:

  1. Colonial Creek is your starting point.

  2. "B" on the map is your destination for portage service.
